A FRIGID ARCTIC AIR MASS WILL SETTLE ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...SENDING TEMPERATURES INTO THE LOW TO MID TEENS BY SUNDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES THIS COLD MAY BE DANGEROUS TO OUTDOOR PETS...AND PET OWNERS MAY WANT TO CONSIDER BRINGING ANIMALS INDOORS FOR THE NIGHT. TEMPERATURES THIS COLD CAN ALSO FREEZE EXPOSED WATER PIPES...AND HOME OWNERS MAY WANT TO CONSIDER INSULATING OUTDOOR WATER SPICKETS...AND CLOSING CRAWL SPACE VENTS TO PREVENT PIPES FROM FREEZING.
TEMPERATURES ON SUNDAY PROBABLY WILL NOT RISE ABOVE THE FREEZING MARK... WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW TO MID TEENS AGAIN SUNDAY NIGHT.
THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE SO FAR THIS WINTER IN NASHVILLE HAS BEEN 11 DEGREES ON JANUARY 3RD. LAST WINTER... THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS ALSO 11 DEGREES ON JANUARY 29TH.
THE LAST TIME THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW ZERO IN NASHVILLE WAS BACK ON FEBRUARY 4TH AND 5TH IN 1996...WHEN IT FELL TO 3 DEGREES BELOW ZERO.
THE ALL TIME RECORD LOW IN NASHVILLE WAS BACK ON JANUARY 21ST 1985 WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FELL TO A MINUS 17 DEGREES BELOW ZERO.
Water spickets. What the heck? Don't these people even play Scrabble?
