How I escaped the allergic Southeast.

photo of gorgeous Marine wives by Joe Carter

Spent some vacation time in sunny San Diego last week, enjoying wonderful Texas hospitality in California. The girl on the left (my twin) convinced the girl on the right (her dear friend Angela) to put us up for a week in her lovely home with a coastal view, just down the street. So much fun to be near family, but giving them some space after a 7 month deployment, and to play with Angela's darling baby Olivia, quite possibly the most well-behaved baby in existence. Good to see my brother in law after his deployment, hang out at flower fields with our parents, and soak up the delights of SoCal, including daily fish tacos, flowers of every hue, gorgeous old Spanish missions, sunny skies and blue ocean. What a beautiful place... now back to my own, in all its allergic glory! Farewell, San Diego... already we miss you!

Jeanette, there were ACRES of roses and ranunculus. And every byway was blooming with color. It's pretty any time of year, but springtime = heaven!
