Taking a bath... er, Bath.

My monozygotic clone is currently touring the south of England and Wales, on a sightseeing trip with her husband. Needless to say I am verdant with envy, that area always being a place of extremely great interest for me. So I just keep checking international weather, looking at maps, and generally dreaming I was with her. She commented that they just don't know what they've got over there, as in, history, architecture, culture, etc. and that she was amazed at every turn. On the other hand, she lamented over the expensive prices for just about everything, from gas to internet usage to food. Life is pretty cheap in America. By that I mean inexpensive. Yet I find so much to complain about, somehow...
Still, I'm pretty happy that I live in a land that has the desert Southwest. Nothing like it anywhere else on the planet. I remember an old friend of mine from Germany never got tired of raving about the open spaces and vistas of the American West, that it was pretty hard for her to get her mind around the fact there were places like that still on Earth. Well, enjoy them while we have them, I say. Who knows how long it will take for urban development to encroach upon them, so go look now while you can. It doesn't take much to set me dreaming about piñon-scented air, hot sun, afternoon thunderstorms, and sopaipillas. Not that Tennessee isn't nice, but there's nothing like the West.

Thanks for stirring up fond memories and longings. I say we rent a van and hit the road. Dyers, Tomasita's... burgers in the rain... sigh.
