Forvo.

Okay, maybe an overstatement. But you have to check this out:
Forvo.com

I could spend HOURS here...it all started by looking up how to say
Sláinte

"Sláinte" means "health" in Irish and pronunciation depends on your dialect.
in the South and West you'd say "slawnt-yeh" or "slant-yeh", in the North it's "slain-cheh", with the "ay" much broader than in the English "slain".

But one could look up any word and any language to get a glimpse of how they sound. Audible glimpse, that is. Of course, it might not be interesting to you, especially if you were like those people in my high school Spanish classes who couldn't be bothered to even try to pronounce anything correctly, just getting by with the very least of efforts, in flat American accents. Kinda like how I was in algebra.

So, Sláinte! And enjoy hearing something you've never heard in your life!

I'm interested! This is a dream site for me. I can't wait to be in Heaven and enjoy the richness of all the cultures and languages God has created. Meanwhile, I'm brushing up on my Swahili

Man, this is fun. I want to visit everywhere, hear all the languages, and try at least one of their foods!
