Just came across a printmaker, Paul Catherall, whose work is gorgeous, simple, and deliciously colored. Check out his beautiful website filled with amazing linocut work. In one of his press clippings he claims American illustrator Michael Schwab as an inspiration:
He cites a trip to San Francisco as a turning point, when he encountered a poster series by American illustrator Michael Schwab, whose work inspired him to take a gamble and start producing his own linocuts. His work is reminiscent of Schwab's but also distinct from it in his lack of heavy outlines. Both artists produce beautiful work that hearkens back to earlier ages of illustration and poster art. Enjoy browsing!
