Had the enjoyable experience of a collage workshop this weekend with Randal Plowman of A Collage A Day fame (I know I've blogged about my prints of his before), up at Northern Kentucky University. Here's a little sample of some of what we learned. Very fun trip to see someone I've long admired!
I had wanted to attend last year and various things prevented me; we made it happen this time, and all three of us who went are so glad to have had the opportunity. I highly recommend Randal's prints available via his blog; they are affordable gorgeous little gems! Funnily enough, he reminded us in personality and manner of another collage artist who happens to be a friend: Wayne Brezinka. They have totally different styles, but it was interesting that they reminded us of each other. Love Wayne's work, he does a fantastic job. He needs to teach a workshop here in Music City... if it ever happens, I will let you know!
A few of my attempts are below.

Wonderful Geninne.
Happy Easter from one of my favorite blogs, and its gorgeous author Geninne. I admire her so much, and so does the rest of internet-land. My pastor, slowly working his way through Ephesians, would admire the verse she chose to showcase for her Easter post.
Hope you all had a blessed Easter! Mine, although the most busy one of my entire life, couldn't have been beat. Even the weather cooperated. He is risen indeed!
Ephesians 1:7
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom & understanding.

A great collage artist.

I'm lucky enough to have a few of Randel Plowman's little bird collage treasures. And when I say little I mean it: they are adorably teeny, and so affordable you won't stop at just one. Check out his October sale (bottom). He doesn't just use birds as subject material either, if you're not big into birds. Would love to attend one of his workshops one day.
I'll update my blog with a picture of mine all framed and in my new dining room, but who knows when that "new" will become "reality".
Just move fast if you see one you love: they don't stay unsold for long. You can always check my recently viewed blogs (to the right) under A Collage A Day.

Woulda. Shoulda. Didn't.

I've been stalking this fellow's collages for a year now, and this weekend he is teaching workshops on collage up in Northern Kentucky. I saw the notice back when we had time, and almost signed up. Now I'm glad I didn't because I'd have had to cancel due to home projects, health issues, and lots of work...but that doesn't stop me from wanting to be there. I'm the happy owner of a number of his collages, some shown above, but they are sadly waiting until I actually have walls on which to hang them. We're about to tear out a few so we can add a lot more, so the collages will wait along with other lovelies til it's all complete...who knows when that will be. Hopefully by the end of the summer I can update finished architectural expansions. I'm sure there will be messy destruction photos to share in the next few weeks, but for now enjoy Mr Plowman's beautiful and compact collage work. They are so affordable, check out his blog and buy a few. I did.
